BYD: The only auto brand on list of China's 50 most valuable brands

Chinese battery and car maker BYD Co. has been ranked No.19 among the top 50 Chinese brands by Millward Brown Optimor, a global leader in marketing research under WPP, sohu.com reported Thursday.

As the only auto brand that made the list, BYD is considered the fastest growing automaker in China and known for its electric car designs and green technology.

Only seven years after entering the automobile industry, BYD has achieved cumulative sales of more than 1 million units.

With single month sales of 30,000 units, the BYD F3 has become one of the top selling compact cars in China; monthly sales of the F0 city car is growing steadily towards 20,000 units; and the F3R, F6 and G3 are all approaching the 10,000 sales mark.

In addition, the M6, BYD's first MPV, and the L3, a new premium car from BYD, have already gone on sale and are highly commented for their fashion appearance and high-end configuration.

With respect to BYD's new energy vehicles, private purchase of the F3DM plug-in hybrid has also started in China; upon rolling off the production line at the end of September, the all-electric bus K9 has gained BYD a 1,000-unit order contract; the battery car e6 has been running well as a taxi on Shenzhen roads with the total operating mileage of 1.2 million kilometers, and is expected to enter the US market next year.

BYD, otherwise known as Build Your Dreams, will release the G6, G3R, L3 and other high quality models at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show from December 21 to 27 this year.
